I am a licensed clinical psychologist who treats children, adolescents, adults, and families. I received my undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Human Development and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University. I have worked in many settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, day treatment programs, and in group private practice. I was the Director of Group Programs at a large group private practice where I coordinated Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy group programming as well as maintained a full caseload of individual therapy clients with whom I worked in both CBT and DBT capacities.
I have experience working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, impulse-control disorders, trauma-related disorders, and problematic relationships. In addition, I have worked with parents on behavior management skills, validation and communication skills, and improving family relations across the lifespan. I have training and experience in applying Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. and Mindfulness techniques.
My clinical focus in on helping others gain and increase emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance skills in addition to identifying personal goals and the roadblocks that stand in the way. I help clients learn ways to problem solve what can be altered and also learn strategies to accept the things that cannot be changed in order to help the client live a more satisfying life and reduce overall distress and discomfort. I am an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and believe in using evidenced-based treatments to find the best approach for the individual that is supported by research.
